Translation and transcreation
In simple terms, translation means conveying a message from one language to another. But is it really just a matter of replacing one set of words with another?
My work goes beyond transferring words from one language to another. I recreate your message in Spanish so that it feels natural, sounds like you and conveys the same meaning, tone and nuances as the original. This allows you to communicate with clients, prospective clients and other contacts clearly, authentically and effectively.

What is transcreation?
Transcreation is the creative adaptation of a text – often for marketing, advertising, or brand communication. Unlike a conventional translation, transcreation may depart more substantially from the source text’s sentence structure, wording, content and cultural references. The aim is not to reproduce the original word for word, but to convey the same message, tone and emotional impact in a way that feels natural and relevant to the target audience.
Transcreation is closely related to copywriting, but the two are not the same. Transcreation starts with an existing text in another language and recreates it for a new market. Copywriting, by contrast, involves writing original content directly in one language without adapting or translating a pre-existing text.
Sworn translation and interpreting for official use
-
Do you need sworn translations of academic qualifications, civil-status records, register of companies documents or other official paperwork for recognition or equivalence applications, visas, residence permits or other administrative procedures in Spain?
-
Are you attending a court appointment or private hearing relating to a marriage-related legal matter, and need professional language support to communicate with Spanish officials clearly and confidently?
- Do you have an important business meeting with a key partner and want to ensure smooth, accurate communication before signing an agreement?
I provide sworn translations from English into Spanish and from Spanish into English to support the recognition of your documents by the Spanish authorities. Where appropriate, I include explanatory notes at no additional cost to clarify relevant details and provide the context needed for the receiving authority to assess whether the document meets the applicable formal and legal requirements.
I also offer sworn interpreting for meetings, interviews and other appointments in these language combinations, ensuring clear, accurate and reliable communication throughout.

Documents I commonly translate
– Minutes of shareholders’ general meetings
– School certificates and report cards
– Diploma supplements
– University diplomas and degree certificates, including bachelor’s and master’s degrees
– Identity documents, including national identity cards, equivalent documents and passports
– Marriage certificates
– Certificates of inheritance
– Court summonses and other legal notices
– Contracts
– Tax returns, forms, and declarations
– Bank statements
– Notarised powers of attorney and deeds
Proofreading
Do you have a translation that you would like independently reviewed, either because you have concerns about its quality or simply want additional reassurance that it is accurate, clear, and fit for purpose? Send it over, and I will review it, flag any issues and send back a polished version.
Are you a fellow translation professional who would like a second pair of expert eyes before delivering work to a client? An independent review can help ensure that terminology, style, accuracy, and consistency have all been checked, with no important detail overlooked. I will review your translations and provide clear, constructive feedback.

Copyediting for style, spelling, punctuation and typography
I refine the style, spelling, punctuation, and formatting of texts written in Spanish to prepare them for publication, treating your text with the same care I would my own.
If you have specific preferences, I can follow the conventions of a particular style guide, including the guidance of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), the EU Interinstitutional Style Guide, the United Nations Editorial Manual and the El País Style Book, or any other reference you provide.
Language auditing and consultancy
Do you have a website or other material that has already been translated, but you are unsure about the quality? I can carry out a one-hour linguistic audit to give you a clear, well-founded assessment of the translation and help you decide whether it would benefit from proofreading, revision or even a complete retranslation. This way, you can choose the right service only if it is truly needed.
Planning a new translation into Spanish but unsure whether Spanish from Spain or a Latin American variety would be more appropriate and cost-effective for your audience? I can advise you on the differences and recommend the best option for your project. Because one size rarely fits all.
